Working with Scenes
How to add, edit, and manage scenes in your Flenly project
Working with Scenes
Scenes are the building blocks of your video. Each scene represents one continuous video clip generated from a text prompt.
Adding a Scene
- Open your project in the editor.
- Click Add Scene on the timeline.
- Give the scene a name (e.g., "Opening Shot", "Chase Sequence").
- Write your prompt — this is the text description the AI will use to generate the video.
Writing Good Prompts
The prompt is the most important part of scene creation. Be specific and descriptive:
Basic prompt:
A cat sitting on a windowsill
Better prompt:
A fluffy orange tabby cat sitting on a wooden windowsill, looking out at a rainy city street, soft ambient lighting, shallow depth of field, cozy atmosphere, cinematic composition
Include details about:
- Subject — What or who is in the scene
- Action — What's happening
- Setting — Where the scene takes place
- Camera — Angle, movement, framing
- Lighting — Time of day, mood, color temperature
- Style — Cinematic, animated, realistic, etc.
Negative Prompts
You can also specify what you don't want in the scene using the negative prompt field. Common negative prompts:
blurry, low quality, distorted faces, text overlays, watermark, jittery motion
Scene Properties
Each scene tracks:
| Property | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A label for the scene (for your reference) |
| Prompt | The text description for AI generation |
| Order | Position in the timeline (drag to reorder) |
| Duration | Length of the generated video (set during render) |
| Status | Pending, Processing, Completed, or Failed |
| Character | Optional linked character for consistent appearance |
| Style Preset | Optional visual style applied to the prompt |
Reordering Scenes
Drag and drop scenes on the timeline to change their order. The final exported video will follow the scene order from left to right.
Re-rendering a Scene
Not happy with the result? You can re-render any scene:
- Select the scene on the timeline.
- Adjust the prompt, model, or settings if needed.
- Click Render again.
Each render costs credits. The previous version is replaced by the new render.
